2025 Priorities
1. Lowering the Chambers Creek Dam
We support lowering the Chambers Creek Dam as an immediate step to restore salmon passage while plans for full removal and bridge replacement are resolved.
2. Stopping the CalPortland Gravel Mine Expansion
Preventing expansion into the South Parcel and de-watering of the Vashon Aquifer is essential to save Sequalitchew Creek’s salmon habitat.
3. Creating a Comprehensive Watershed Restoration Plan
A unified watershed plan is needed to fund restoration, regulate harmful practices, and guide long-term salmon recovery.
4. Regulating Groundwater to Maintain Minimum Streamflow
Groundwater regulation is critical to keep Clover Creek from running dry and to support salmon migration.
5. Removing Obstructions on Upper Clover Creek
Clearing man-made barriers will restore healthy upstream habitat and improve downstream water flow.
6. Daylighting Ponce de Leon Creek
Exposing the buried creek in Lakewood Town Center would provide ecological benefits and create a unique community attraction.
7. Conserving the Headwaters of Leach Creek
Protecting these wetlands from development ensures clean water and long-term creek health.
